My name is Thomas Sørbø and I am the founder and CEO of Nordilog. I am a serial entrepreneur who is passionate about logistics and supply chain. I have always been fascinated by buying and selling. I love to make a good deal, I love to help people solve problems, and I find it fascinating to use software to simplify tasks and find solutions.

Like many others, I came into this industry by coincidence. One thing I like about it is the international aspect of working with people from all over the world. Over the years, I have seen and experienced just how many people and businesses are involved in moving goods around the world, and how many things can — and do — go wrong in this process. Many logistics teams are overworked and understaffed, resulting in having no time left to focus on improvement and strategic work. This opens up opportunities for me: I always look for ways to do things smarter and better.

I hold a B.Sc. from the Norwegian Business School BI and my career background comes from 15 years of experience in the global freight industry. I have gained in-depth experience in logistics and transportation from several years of employment at Kuehne + Nagel in various roles. Then, in 2011, I — together with my colleague and friend Patrik Berglund — decided to leave this and start our first company together, which we named Nordilog. We were young and eager to build our own company, helping clients to improve their freight procurement and save money. During our time with Kuehne + Nagel, we also identified an opportunity in the ocean freight industry that prompted us to develop a solution for helping cargo owners benchmark their ocean freight rates, to identify gaps and challenge their providers to reduce their rates. After just one year, this project took off and we decided to close down the consulting company (the old Nordilog) to focus on developing this new business: Xeneta. We raised more than 30 million dollars in venture capital funding that we used to employ some of the most talented people in the world, and this helped us to build Xeneta into becoming the top worldwide source for comparing contracted shipping rates and providing intelligence that was never before accessible.

During the last 8 years, I have helped businesses to benchmark their freight rates to identify opportunities. However, I was not engaged in the process of helping them to realize their full potential. This is why I started (the new) Nordilog. I want to go back to doing what I really love: working directly with my customers, helping them to see opportunities, and finding solutions to make it happen. I want to do more than just deliver reports advising companies on what they should do to improve their business — I want to get to work on actually making these improvements with my customers.
